Third through eighth grade will be doing state testing at the second half of May. Please make sure your students are getting plenty of rest during testing time!! I know Mrs. McIntosh and Mr. Peet's classes are already doing test prep!! Thank you for all your help and support!!

This month we have been focused on math review and the U.S. constitution in preparation for end of the year testing. The end of the year always sneaks up on us, and before we know it it's over. in addition we've worked hard on our art skills with help from Mr. Tamori every Tuesday morning. As always I hope our parents are encouraging their students to do extra reading when at home. Every little bit helps, thanks.

Brain teaser from Mr. Peet:
If you have a 7-minute sand timer (hourglass), which is the most accurate and quickest way to measure 15 minutes?

* We've been having a lot of fun working and posting activities in SeeSaw! The kids would really like to receive some responses from home on their posts. If you need help getting connected, then please let me know. Make sure you have the notifications for SeeSaw turned on, on your phone.
*Each month we are doing a Scholastic Book Giveaway! The kids are really enjoying choosing new books for themselves every month. New books are a great opportunity to spend quality time sharing the joy and excitement reading can bring to your family. Ask your kiddos to see their new books, if they haven't already shared them with you!
*We've had some disappointed kiddos when it comes to snacks in the classroom. I do my best to provide a variety of snacks for the classroom, but sometimes a student doesn't want what I am offering, gets upset because they can't choose something else, and chooses to not eat. Please talk to your kiddo and see if they would prefer to always bring a snack from home.
*Our volunteer counselor, Senta Burton, will start her Friendship/Social Skills groups starting the week of April 3rd! Thank you all for allowing her to work with your kiddos!!

This is our last full month of school. This month, students will be preparing for the state of California testing. The class is excited about attending a field trip on May 12th. Reading logs will be part of homework this month. Congratulations to the student of the month: Sophia Whiting. The class has Standards Plus workbooks to help them with understanding the state testing format.
Students will be working in their Standards Plus workbooks to learn the format of the questions, and the expectations for answering each question. With state testing there are no partially correct answers. If a part or parts of a multipart question are not correct, the entire question is counted as incorrect. This month, students will be typing stories to get used to typing out their thoughts rather than writing because answers must be typed.
If you have not returned the permission slip, please do that as soon as possible. The office staff need to make plans for how many vehicles are needed to transport students, and for lunch. Parents are welcome to send additional snacks with their child; however, snacks must be in line with the school’s wellness policy: no soda or candy.
The days are warmer lately. Because we have PE in the afternoon, it would be helpful for students to bring shorts and a t-shirt to change into. They also should remember to bring a pair of athletic shoes to change into if they are wearing regular shoes like boots or sandals. These types of shoes make it difficult to participate in PE.
