I hope this message finds you enjoying a wonderful summer break, making memories, and enjoying the beauty and nature of living in our wonderful Auburn community.
I am thrilled to welcome you back to another exciting and promising school year that officially begins on August 16th, 2023. I also can’t wait to meet our newest Wildcats, the 6th graders, the class of 2026! 6th Grade, please join us for your 6th Grade orientation on Wednesday, August 9th from 8:30 am-12:00 pm. You don't want to miss this fun time of seeing old friends, making new friends, and getting to know your new school!
Communication is vital to a successful educational experience. Parents are encouraged to contact me at any time with any questions, concerns, or suggestions. Email me at cmabery@auburn.k12.ca.us or by call the school office at 530-823-6106. It is crucial that we have your current contact information on file. We use your contact information in Aeries for our communication but also to contact you in case of any emergency with your child, so please ensure your details and those of your emergency contacts are up-to-date by completing the "Data Confirmation" section in the Aeries Parent Portal.
Even if you have no changes, you must complete this process. Update your information in the Aeries portal no later than the first day of school or join other parents on August 9th and 10th respectively, at 6:00 pm. Parents, you can attend either date that is most convenient for you! The Wildcat Gym will be set up with computers to assist parents with this process. Bell schedules, the school calendar, and so much more will be available on our school website. See the link, EV Cain Middle School Website and keep in mind it is not completely updated, but it’s already an improvement from last year! The school calendar is current, so please check it often. | Dear Auburn Union School District Families, I hope this message finds you well and filled with anticipation for the new school year. As we approach August 16th, the start of the 2023-2024 academic year, I am thrilled to welcome all our students and families back to our schools. My name is Michelle Lucci Garcia, and I am honored to serve as your Interim Superintendent for the Auburn Union School District 2023 - 2024 school year.
Over the summer, our dedicated team of educators and staff have been participating in rigorous personal development and training sessions. We believe that the key to student success lies in a robust, ever-evolving teaching faculty. Our teachers have been hard at work, honing their skills and exploring innovative teaching strategies to ensure our classrooms are vibrant spaces of learning.
As we embark on this new academic journey, one of our primary goals is to strengthen the bond between our school district and the Auburn community. Education is a shared responsibility, and it thrives when schools, families, and communities work collaboratively towards a common aim - nurturing our students' potential and preparing them for future success. This year, we will be launching several initiatives aimed at fostering community engagement and creating opportunities for everyone to contribute to the education of our children.
Our vision for Auburn Union School District encompasses the pursuit of academic excellence and aims to cultivate an environment where every student feels valued, challenged, and prepared for the future. We intend to empower our students to become active citizens, invested in their community's well-being and prosperity. Let us begin this school year with renewed energy and commitment. Let's work together to shape not just the minds but also the hearts of our students. Let's collectively invest in our community's future by providing our children with the best education possible. During our Open House in April, we shared our intention to transition from a 7-period day to a block schedule. However, as we delved deeper into the final refinements of this plan over the summer, we identified an unforeseen challenge concerning our instructional minutes.
Given the importance of instructional time, we have decided to defer the block schedule's implementation to the 2024-2025 school year.
To keep you informed and involved in this process, we will host a series of events titled "Cain Conversations." These sessions will provide an opportunity for parents to gain a deeper understanding of the proposed block schedule as well as to provide opportunities for parents to share input and suggestions on other topics as well. We highly value your input and look forward to your participation.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we continually strive to provide the best educational experience for our students.

The front office hours are Tuesday-Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. The front office hours on Mondays are 7:30-2:30. The front office opens for the 2023-2024 school year this Thursday, August 3, 2023. |

Calling all 6th Graders! Please join our Leadership students and new Leadership teacher, Mrs. Schichtel, for your first, fun, official day as an EVC Wildcat! You will spend the morning getting to know your new classmates, participate in fun activities, pick up your schedule and Chromebook, walk the campus, and make some new friends before the first day of school on August 16th!
Tentative Agenda: - 6th Graders should arrive between 8:00 and 8:25 am
- Activities will begin at 8:30 am
- Lunch will be served around 11:30 am
- 6th Graders should be picked up anytime from 12:00 to 12:15 pm
