Community Update: Westfield Village School Modernization
The Washington Unified School District (WUSD) is happy to share that the Westfield Village School modernization project begins on Monday, June 5, 2023. This project is the culmination of years of preparation and planning and is genuinely symbolic of a community collaboration made possible by the voters of West Sacramento, who authorized the Measure Z bond on November 3, 2020, which is paying for this important project.
On Friday, June 2, 2023, from 3-5 pm, an ice cream social will be hosted at the Westfield Village School, where Westfield Village community members are welcome to attend and learn more about the project.
Westfield Village School is receiving a full modernization of the entire campus in preparation for its grand re-opening during the 2024-2025 school year. That means Westfield Village School will be under construction for over a year. There will be no students on campus throughout the construction timeline.
Students and staff will be temporarily moved to 1100 Clarendon Street (the old River City High School campus) during construction. While at the Clarendon campus, Westfield Village will share the space with the Washington Unified Virtual Academy, whose students are physically on campus once a month during their designated in-person learning days. School administrators are working closely with the WUSD Facilities, Construction, and Planning Office throughout this process regarding all logistics, including transportation services.
The WUSD family sincerely appreciates the trust and support of the West Sacramento community, who believe in this project and share its commitment to revitalizing one of our legacy campuses in a historic part of the community.
More information and regular updates will be available on the Westfield Village Modernization webpage.
