Title I Parent Information Night

Thanks to the families who were able to join us during the Title I Parent Information session that was given during our October PTA meeting.  Included in the attachments below is a copy of the presentation.

PLEASE NOTE:  Boulder Hill School Compacts were sent home with students, and we need 100% of these forms signed and returned to school.  A copy of the Compact is also included in the attachments below.

National Digital Citizenship Week

October 14-18th

Next week, October 14th - 18th is National Digital Citizenship Week.  Our youth are exposed to a great deal of technololgy. We want students to acess these tools safely. 

Here are some resources that you can use as a family to assist with promoting safe Digital Citizenship with your student.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences are quickly approaching.  Conferences will occur on October 24 from 4PM - 8PM & October 25 from 8AM - 1PM.  Conferences can be conducted in-person at Boulder Hill or virtually. You should receive communication from your student's teacher to schedule a conference.  Our goal is that 100% of our parents are able to meet with your student's teacher(s).

Attendance Challenge

School attendance is very important.  This year we are launching a school-wide attendance challenge.   Our attendance percentages have been on a decline.  Let's pick it back up!

Congrats to 4th grade  for reaching the goal of maintaining or growing in grade level percentages for 5 weeks!

STUDENT COUNCIL NEWS

Student council is starting something new this year; a weekly news segment!  On this video segment Student Council will share weekly announcements and information about upcoming events.

This week features our Student Council  club sponor, Miss Etheridge, sharing about the food drive .  Teachers will share this video in their classrooms on fridays. In the next few weeks our fifth grader student council members will be taking this over and be a part of the show.

U of I Pen Pals Program

Ms. Lopez, Mrs. Guerra, Mrs. Medina and Ms. Carbajal´s Dual Language students are participating in a Pen Pal Program with the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. There are 98 students participating! These Boulder Hill students exchange written letters back and forth with University students, who are part of the “Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.” Through the program, our students learn about various majors/careers, in particular the field of Engineering. The purpose of this program is to elevate the Spanish language and inspire our kids to attend college, while establishing friendships with their Pen Pals. Our students have sent their first round of letters!

SD308 11th Annual Food Drive

Kendall County Community Food Pantry

EVERYONE can donate online the Paypal portal www.kccfoodpantry.org/sd308 

More than ever, food insecurity is a growing reality for a number of families in our community and the donations that are collected ensure that we can help with providing the most needed items for these families. Approximately 400 families visit the KCCFP each week for assistance with food, household and personal hygiene items. Any monetary donations that the KCCFP receives they are able to use their tremendous purchasing power of $8 of product for every $1 donated to purchase food items. What they cannot use the monetary donations for is to purchase household products, personal hygiene items or pet food which is in great demand. 

Here are some things to know:

• KCCFP indicates that they service approximately 400 families a week.
• For every $1 that is donated, the KCCFP is able to purchase $8 in product.
• Checks should be made payable to: KCCFP

The KCCFP is also looking for specific items that they have a hard time being donated to them. Families can purchase items directly from KCCFP's Amazon List . 

A flyer was sent home with students which indicate items they are most in need of.

Forms can be brought to school, sent in with your student, emailed, or faxed to the contact info below! Please do NOT upload forms to PowerSchool as we may be unable to access them on our end.

SD308 Health Forms & Documents

MEDICATION AT SCHOOL

The SD308 Medication Authorization form must be completed and signed by a doctor and parent before a medication can be given at school. This applies to ALL medication, prescription and over the counter including: Acetaminophen, Motrin, eye drops, allergy medications, antibiotics, inhalers, cough drops, etc. Medications MUST be transported to/from school by an ADULT, not your student. 

WHEN TO KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME FROM SCHOOL 

-Vomiting and/or diarrhea within last 24 hours

-Fever (greater than 100.0)

-Shortness of breath or wheezing, not controlled with an inhaler (if applicable)

-Constant or uncontrolled cough/coughing that wakes child in the night

-Rash that has not been evaluated/cleared by physician

-Drainage + redness from one or both eyes

-Severe sore throat

Parent Focused Group

Next meeting - November 12th @ 6PM

I am looking forward to continuing our Parent Focused Group conversations this year.

Light refreshments will be provided for adults and students.  Childcare will be provided as well.  Thank you to those of you who signed up to attend.  This helps with planning for food and childcare.

Attendees will be provided cards to record questions.  Responses to questions will be documented and shared at a later date.
