This week we had our first HOWL Award Winner Lunches. For the month of March, teachers kept HOWL Awards in their classrooms, then picked two names to be the winners for the month. A few teachers had their students choose the two names. We presented the students with certificates on Monday. Tuesday, they entered the lunchroom to find two Fancy Tables set for them, with several staff members joining. Be sure to check out the school Facebook/Instagram pages for lunch pictures. It was a great celebration. We will do the same for April and May.

Please help us keep all kids safe!!! Students are asked to walk their bikes, scooters, etc. once they reach the blacktop in the back or cross the street in the front. Unfortunately, some students have been injured by bike riders running them over. Please reinforce the expectation to walk once on campus. Thank you! |

| Coyotes are Curious!!!
Last week's answer and this week's question. We love that you are curious like our students!!!
Last week's Wonder Wednesday question were from Eduardo, Taylor, Alvaro, Elizabeth, and Aadrika in Mrs. Peterson's Kindergarten. They wanted to know all about donuts: Why are they yummy? Why do they have sprinkles? Who made donuts? Why are they pretty and good? They also asked why cats are so fluffy.
~An average glazed doughnut contains about 11g of fat and 10g of sugar, and it's the combination of these two ingredients in particular that makes it so irresistible. ~Sprinkles add decoration or texture to the donuts. You can also find sprinkles on cupcakes, brownies, cakes, in ice cream, and other desserts. They are just nice to look at, and tasty too!
~While food resembling doughnuts has been found at many ancient sites, the earliest origins to the modern doughnuts are generally traced back to the olykoek (“oil(y) cake”) Dutch settlers brought with them to early New York. ~When a cat lifts up the hairs, it makes the fur look thicker and fluffier and they might do this because they're cold. With the hairs standing taller, more air gets trapped in the fur and that helps keep the cat warmer.
This week's questions was from Alijah in Mrs. Grigsby/Ms. Czapczyk's 3rd grade. He asked why do coyotes howl at night. Watch for the answer in next week's Coyote Call. |

If you don't have your yellow sign, you will be asked to leave the line, go to the office to show ID, and pick up your child from there. Our car line can get quite long. If your child can walk, ride a bike, or carpool, it would help tremendously.
Cars enter the parking lot "chute" on the north side of the building. Please do NOT enter the bus circle in the front. The front circle is for students in our STARS program and buses only 8:30-9:00 and 3:35-4:15.
Have your school-issued yellow sign posted in the passenger side window. You will receive these in the first days of school. Keep the sign in the windshield until you leave the parking lot. Pull all the way forward in the line so we can get as many students loaded/unloaded as possible.
Say goodbyes, gather backpacks, and masks on as you enter the chute, so when it's time to get out of the car, students can be swift. The use of cell phones in school zones is prohibited by law. Our neighbors are very patient. Please be sure to keep driveways and mailboxes spaces open as you are in the car line.
There is no parking, standing, or stopping at any time on Lakewood Creek Drive in front of the school. Please do NOT stop there to drop off or pick up students. Village signs are posted and parking on the street is not safe for our students crossing.
Our crossing guards are wonderful. Please be aware of them, watch for their signs, and be respectful. Their ONLY job is to keep your children safe.
Early Childhood ONLY: Students are dismissed out Door #1 at 10:30 (am session) or 2:15 (pm session). If you are picking up in a car, pull into the front circle, behind the buses. We will get your child from the building to the car. We cannot buckle your child. After your child is loaded in the car, please quickly buckle and/or pull into a far parking space or across the street to buckle. |
