Tis the season!

As we head into Christmas break and our thoughts turn towards special time with family and friends. We want to thank you all for a wonderful beginning of this year. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful students, families, and staff all working together for our children’s future.

Enrollment for 24/25 School Year:

Re-Enrollment for current students:

The Re-Enrollment Form will be sent out in early January to the parent email we have on hand. This form will need to be completed before February 29, 2024 in order to secure your child’s spot for next year so keep an eye out for this! We look forward to having your child(ren) with us again next year!

The new student application for the 24/25 school year will be on the website in January, and will need to be completed and delivered to the office prior to February 29, 2024 in order to be included in next year’s lottery. If you have friends or family that want their child to experience the STEM difference next year…Let them know!

Invent Idaho:

Projects will be judged the week after we get back from break. Winners will move on to the regionals. I always look forward to seeing the great ideas our students create.

Congratulations:

Congratulations to Jaren Knopp for being selected to 2024 ACDA Honor Choir and to Ryan Liu for being selected to 2024 Idaho All-State Honor Band! Both students were chosen from a blind audition in highly competitive competitions. Jaren and Ryan will work with nationally recognized composers and directors in late January.

FLL Regional competition: Congratulations to all the teams that competed in the School-wide competition prior to Thanksgiving. The North Idaho Regional was held last Friday December 8th here at STEM.  The top 12 teams will go on to the State competition next month in Post Falls. Whether you are going on to the State competition or not, the experience you gained in this process is valuable. For those moving on, good luck. Just do your best!  If you have prepared to win, you will do well.

Year-End Giving - Make a Difference AND Take Advantage of the Idaho Education Tax Credit:

Our Capital campaign goes year- round, but many of you have asked about year-end donations for tax purposes. If you are not aware, Idaho gives a tax CREDIT of 50%  (That means you literally get back half of what you donate on your state taxes.)  It is also deductible on your Federal taxes as we are a registered 501 (C) (3)  tax exempt organization. You may always donate by check, or online at  https://stemcharter.square.site.

No amount is too small; it all adds up when we all work together!! If every student brought in $25 we would raise almost $15,000. Every dime goes towards paying for our facilities. Thank you for your support!!

Thank you to Rathdrum Trading Post Hardware:

We are very grateful to Matt Smith at Rathdrum Trading Post Hardware for once again donating over 300 Golden Tickets to STEM Charter K-5 students! Each student was given a personalized $6.00 Golden Ticket to use on anything they liked, and families were also treated to cookies, hot chocolate, and a visit by Mr. and Mrs. Clause.

If you find yourself in the area this holiday season, stop in to Rathdrum Hardware and express your appreciation!

Important Reminders:

Progress Reports:

Quarter 2 Progress Reports were emailed to parents today. Please refer any grade-related questions directly to your child's teacher(s).

STEM Yearbook:

Work is already under way on this year's STEM yearbook! If you took photos of your student doing anything STEM related or even pictures of their extra-curricular activities and would like to submit to the yearbook, email them to stemyearbook@northidahostem.org. Keep those photos coming all year long!

Parking Lot Safety:

With the snow upon us, we do the best we can to make sure the parking lot and driveways are plowed and graveled in a timely manner so we can keep sliding to a minimum. But safety is as much about human behavior as driving conditions. If you are running late, please don’t try to make up time by flying down the driveway. We’d rather have you another 5 seconds late than have you hit another car, or worse…. a person. Thank you.

DROP OFF Etiquette:

Speaking of human behavior…PLEASE pull all the way forward when dropping off your children in the morning. When you stop in front of the office it creates a chain reaction that backs up traffic. Thank you for your help.

Lost & Found:

The Lost & Found is in the cafeteria to make it easier for students to find their misplaced items each day during lunchtime. Please remind your children to check it before the holidays

Cold Weather:

Please remind your children to wear appropriate clothing for weather –Fresh air is important and children will be playing outside…Please bring jackets, etc. for outside play.

STEM Charter Mathletes WIN at Regional North Idaho College Competition:

Our mathletes represented STEM Charter well: they were the best dressed students at the competition, had amazing team spirit, and brought back the most awards from this particular competition in our school's history.  There were over 110 mathletes, from 9 different schools, present at the competition. Thank you to all of their teachers for years of preparation for this moment and an extra special THANK YOU to our Mrs. LaPresta who gets our STEM students prepared each year for this competition.
