Reminders
Attendance: We want to thank everyone for being so diligent in getting their children to school and communicating with the office when they are out. Please continue to keep your children home when they are sick so they are not sharing their germs with us. If your child has three unexcused absences they are truant. Remember to schedule appointments and take family trips during scheduled breaks. You can reference our School Calendar for planning. If your child is going to miss more than five days of school notify the office as soon as possible to discuss your educational options.
As the weather starts getting colder make sure the kiddos are dressed accordingly including a proper pair of shoes and have an extra layer for the cold mornings.
We know a lot of our families are still rebuilding after the fire. If you are struggling to meet the needs of your family please give us a call to discuss options that may be available to you. Our Homeless liaison at Berry Creek school is Nicole Cardwell. |

October, (the best weather month of the year) has come and gone. Everyone was focused on being a good friend as that was our Pyramid of Success theme. In addition to being friendly we've been working particularly hard on our writing skills. As the class improves every day in their reading I've wanted to make sure that the writing end of things keeps up. We've been doing heavy practice in punctuation, grammar and paragraph development. Every morning we do a ten minute run and we've been lucky enough to watch Decemburr fly. In fact she has lowered her own record on our hilly 1/2 mile course to 3:23! That's moving, and she'll only get faster. We survived Halloween and look forward to a great November.

We are moving on from the Friendship Block of the Pyramid of Success to a focus on Loyalty and Cooperation. The Pyramid newsletter will be sent home Wednesday with your child's homework. Please find it in their homework folder. There is a really important section at the bottom that discusses secret keeping. Please take some time to read it with your child/children. Pyramid Blocks: Loyalty: Be trustworthy Cooperation: Be more interested in finding the best way, and not having your way.
Next week, 1st and 2nd grades will take the Unit 2 Language Arts assessment. You can help them be successful by ensuring they get a good night's sleep. Also, the materials in the Reading Folders will be review from the past 5 weeks. Just a reminder that students who do not complete their Reading Folder each night, at home, and get their log signed by an adult, have to forfeit recess to catch up. They also receive five extra tickets each week, as a reward, for completing every night of their reading folder!
Reminder: It is getting cold, and we have had some kiddos arriving at school without their jackets. Please be double checking that your child is wearing their jacket to school, as we do not have extras. Thank you to Tenisha Ferguson for donating some snacks to the classroom! Much appreciated!
We will be doing a Scholastic Book Give-a-Way this week. Please ask your kiddos to share their newly chosen books with you! Reading at home with family helps instill a life long love for reading! Thank you for all you do to support us in learning and growing! Miss Perez |

The month of October literally flew by. Students in my class were engaged in their work and were floored every day that it was time to leave. We just concluded the practice of Friendship from the Pyramid of Success. Encourage your children to display the qualities of Loyalty and Cooperation throughout the
month of November. During November we will practice the character traits of Loyalty and Cooperation. Our student of the month for this school year is dependent upon who is successful at displaying the monthly character trait. They are making strong progress in both ELA and math, and completed a United States
Regions project. In science we are working on energy.
Families can assist their children at home by practicing their spelling words with them and by practicing multiples of multiplication. Ask your child for their homework and check it over and verify that it is complete. Please message me on the Clever App if you have any questions. I will do my best to help walk you
through what you need help with.
The student who was a friend to all during the month of October is Jacob Ferguson, Jr. He displayed amazing skills of Friendship by voluntarily helping other students to catch up in the classroom, by being a good friend during recess and a good partner during Physical Education, and by not only following classroom and school rules, but also by following school rules and encouraging others to do the same.
Just a reminder to have your student either wear, or pack, their PE shoes on Monday, Thursday, and Friday each week. They are welcome to leave their PE shoes here during the week to ensure that they have the proper footwear. |
