To keep our community up-to-date and informed of actions taken by the Washington Unified School District (WUSD) Board of Trustees, we will regularly share board briefs. Board Briefs summarize key actions taken on WUSD Board of Education agendas. District Outreach Team - The Board of Trustees recognized the Office of Student and Family Support Services, which provides academic, social, and emotional support services that support educational excellence and equity for all students. This incredible group of individuals works tirelessly behind the scenes to help students and families stay on track for success, and we appreciate them for all that they do for our school community.
Measure Z Update & Westfield Village Modernization - Staff shared an informational update regarding the Westfield Village Elementary Modernization, which is the first Measure Z project. WUSD has completed the first design phase of the project and received cost estimates from its consultants. The design is based on the 2019 Facilities Master Plan (FMP), and district-wide programmatic changes since the development of the FMP were also included in the design. View the presentation.
Professional Learning Updates - Staff shared an informational update of current and ongoing professional development being implemented to build the capacity of WUSD staff in order to better support students. View the presentation

Yolo SELPA Community Advisory Committee - The Board of Trustees approved a list of community members and District employees to join the Yolo SELPA Community Advisory Committee (CAC) for the 2022-2023 school year. This advisory committee provides special education in-service training for parents; provides community awareness projects; actively supports special education legislation; facilitates communication among parents, schools, and the community; provides input on the Yolo SELPA (Special Education Local Plan Area) Local Plan; develops special education literature.

PE Exemption for Juniors & Seniors - The Board of Trustees approved of the Physical Education (P.E.) Exemption for Juniors and Seniors who have met exemption requirements. Westfield Village Modernization Project - The Board of Trustees approved the contract with Van Pelt Construction Services (VPCS) to Perform Construction Management Services for the Westfield Village Modernization Campus Relocation. VPCS is the same firm that successfully managed the August 2021 Westmore Oaks Elementary School relocation. |
