Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures

The neighborhood around Bella Vista can be very congested during drop-off and pick-up times. Families are encouraged to park at Rancho San Ramon Park across Dougherty Road and walk in with Crossing Guard Joe. If you must drive in or can walk from your home in the neighborhood, please follow these procedures for a safe and smooth experience:

Our primary concern is the safety of our students on campus.  Patience is a virtue and we appreciate everyone’s effort to maintain a safe and secure learning environment.

  • Please drive safely and with extra caution throughout the neighborhood during drop off and pick up times.
  • It is advised to avoid street parking as our neighborhood gets congested during drop-off and pick-up times. If you must park and walk your child in, there is very limited parking in the small parking lot against the field, or you are encouraged to park at Rancho San Ramon Park and walk in with your child. Crossing Guard Joe will escort families and students across the street.
  • Please do not drop your child off in the middle of the street.
  • Please do not park or stop in front of neighbors’ driveways.
  • The small parking lot near the flagpole is for Champions Childcare parking only.

AM TK and Kindergarten Arrival Procedures

TK and Kinder parents may drop off their child no earlier than 7:45am for 8:00am start of class. Kinder students will have 8:00 or 9:00am start times and should arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before school starts. Parents should walk your child to school and drop off at the flagpole gate past Champions. If you do not see a teacher in an orange vest at the gate that indicates that Kinder drop off has ended and you’ll need to sign in at the front office so your child can be escorted to class.

AM TK and Kindergarten Dismissal Procedures

At 11:30am (TK and early Kinders) and 12:30pm (late Kinders), the children will be brought to the kindergarten gate and released to their parents. Parents should plan to walk up with their signs. Parents should not park in the Champions parking lot.

Grades 1- 5 Arrival Procedures

Campus supervision begins at 7:45AM Monday - Friday.  Do not drop students off before that time.  Parents may drop the students off at the front gates between the MPR and the office. Students will enter through the front gates and will walk to the playground area where they will find their line numbers. It is important that parents and students always use crosswalks. When the first bell rings at 7:55AM students will be lined up on the blacktop number assigned to that classroom and await the arrival of their teacher. Bikes and scooters must be walked on school grounds and parked in the bike rack area between the office and MPR. Parents should say goodbye at the front gates and allow students to independently walk to the blacktop so that we are able to keep the campus secure.

Drivers

The driveway in front of school is a one-way drive. Please note that signs posted indicate no left turns into the school driveway from Trumpet Vine. All drivers coming into the school driveway will have to enter from the north side of campus (Trefoil entrance) and turn right into the driveway.

  • Form a single line for drop off at the curb in front of the school and pull up as far as possible.
  • Children are to exit the car from the passenger side only.
  • Helpers in yellow traffic vests may assist the children when needed.  It is imperative that children have their personal belongings ready (backpacks, lunch bags, etc) to exit the car when you arrive for drop off.
  • The adult driver should not exit the vehicle to assist. This causes traffic flow problems. Please work with your child to become independent in getting in and out of the car with all personal belongings.
  • Do not pull into the Bus Stop curb area during drop off or pick up, or park your car in this area at any time.

Walkers

Families are encouraged to park at Rancho San Ramon Park and use the crosswalk across Dougherty Road to walk into school. This intersection is staffed with our crossing guard.

  • Students walking from throughout the neighborhood should use sidewalks at all times. Please do not walk your child up the entrance or exit driveways.
  • Walkers from the north side of the neighborhood (Trefoil Rd, Goldfield Pl, etc) should use the sidewalk in between the field and the small parking lot. This allows walkers to be on the sidewalk all the way to the front school gate and keeps them away from vehicles entering the driveway.
  • Walkers from the south side of the neighborhood (Zinnia Ct.) and those that park at Rancho San Ramon Park should use the sidewalk down Hibiscus Road to the stairs at the corner of Trumpet Vine. This allows walkers the ability to come up the stairs and follow the sidewalk in front of the flagpole and office and directly to the front gates.

Grades 1 - 5 Departure Procedures

Drivers

Students that will be picked up in a car via the one way drive will be waiting in the MPR for their names to be called.

  • Enter the one-way driveway in front of school from the far right curb only and pull all the way forward. (You may pass the MPR.) Staff will be present to direct traffic and assist students.
  • Drivers are not to park or get out of their cars while in the lanes in front of the school.
  • Display a name plate with the first name(s) and grade level(s) that you are picking up. Students will be listening for their name in the MPR.

Walkers

Parents walking children home from school will need to meet them at the flagpole gate.

  • Walkers to the north side of school should follow the sidewalk in front of the office, MPR, and in between the field and small parking lot to stay safe.
  • Walkers to the south side of school should use the stairs near the corner of Trumpet Vine and Hibiscus.
