Notes for the Week Starting April 24, 2023

Please remember to check the online calendar and news frequently for updates: www.stjosephimperial.org

Grandparents’ Day

On April 25th, we’ll have grandparents’ day for students in Grades 5 through 8.

The day will begin with 8 am Mass celebrated in the Church. Children may drop their belongings in the classroom when they arrive, and return to the breezeway to unite with their grandparents (as occurred with Mom's and Dad's Masses). Following Mass, a short musical presentation will be performed. Grandparents will then walk their grandchildren back to their classrooms and depart.

Daddy/Daughter Dance Registration

Night Under the Stars 2023 Daddy/Daughter Dance is presented by The St. Joseph Home and School Association. You can register here.

Location: Corpus Christi Center (St. Joseph Campus)

Time: 6:30pm - 9pm (Doors will open at 6pm)

*Registration will close end of day on Monday, May 8th.

**All families must submit a registration form in order to attend the dance.

*8th graders- please arrive by 6:30pm to get ready for the 8th grade recognition at 6:45pm (there will be a form to fill out upon arrival)

Kindergarten Screening

Kindergarten screening will begin the week of April 24th.  Your child's screening results will be sent home once all screenings are completed.

Immunization Records

Nurse Tara recently sent out letters requesting updated Immunization Records. If you received a letter or an email asking for this information, please send it in with your child prior to the end of the school year. It is more cost effective for the school to have the work associated with entering immunizations done during the school year, rather than paying for the data to be entered over the summer. Nurse Tara will be calling again in the near future to remind parents that have not yet turned in their updated immunizations, which are required by law. Please remember that students may not attend next school year if we do not receive the required information. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Girl Scout Tab Top Collection

St. Joseph School Girl Scout troops will be collecting aluminum tabs from beverage cans. Tabs can be placed in the collection jar in the school office. This project will run from April 3-28. Please contact Katie Joseph at katie.p.joseph@gmail.com with any questions.

Spring Open House

We will be having a Spring Open House on May 7, from 11:00-12:30. If you know of anyone who is interested in our school, please let them know! Please see the attachment for additional details.

School Board Elections

The Saint Joseph School Board will be holding an election for 2 new members after all masses on May 13th and 14th, and we are looking for nominees. Candidates should be 18 years or older and sincerely interested in Catholic education. The board meets once a month at 7:00 pm and attendance is mandatory. The purpose of the School Board is to advise the pastor and principal in making policy for the school. The elected members shall serve a three-year term and will take their seats at the May meeting. Those candidates who are interested are asked to submit a short paragraph about themselves to Sr. Carol Sansone (csansone@stjosephimperial.org) by Monday, May 1st. The bios will be presented on the school website and in the parish bulletin on May 7th.

Day at the Ballpark

The 4th annual St. Joseph Day at the Ballpark is returning on Thursday, September 21st, 2023. Please don't delay in making your purchase, as there are a limited number of tickets available. With ample participation, this will be considered an "all-school field trip," in which case school will not be in session. Last year our group of over 400 attendees witnessed history as Molina & Wainwright tied the major league record of 324 starts by a battery.  It was a great day!

Second through eighth grade students will have the opportunity to sing the National Anthem on the field prior to the game again this year. More details will be shared at a later date.

Purchase your tickets here! If you have any questions, please contact Wendy Mathis (parent volunteer) via email: wmw132s@yahoo.com.
