Happy New Year, Falcons!
We are so excited to have you all back on campus. January started off pretty rainy, and we made it through those stormy drop-offs and pick-ups - as a reminder, please continue to follow all the traffic rules and guidance that can be found on our website and the guidance from staff who are out there every morning and afternoon. Please pull all the way up to the MPR - 3 full size cars and minivans can fit between the end of the fire lane and the crosswalk and that space should be maximized. Dropping off and waiting to pick up by the Bike Rack entry or at the curve in front of the gym are also other areas where we are experiencing major delays. Please know that when cars stop here, it causes more traffic congestion and overall delays for other students. Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our students safe coming to and leaving school.
Your support has also been instrumental in the installation of our first courtyard shade structure! The “Big Top” was installed over Winter Break and it looks great. Thanks to your WRMS Ed Fund donations, our community has another space to gather during rainy downpours and that San Ramon heat!
As we begin to close out the month of January, please be reminded of the Tutorial selection process for students. You can review what your child is responsible for doing by clicking on this document. Every week, students sign up for tutorials - Tuesdays are Social/Emotional Learning tutorials, Wednesdays and Thursdays are for Academic Tutorials - targeted content area support, reteach, re-test, study hall. It is important for students to sign up for these tutorials no later than Monday at 4pm. At home, you can support your student with this by checking in with them to see what tutorials they are signing up for. For example, if you see that your child is having challenges in reading, it would be a good idea for them to choose to sign up for a tutorial with their Core teacher. If you see that your child hasn’t signed up for any tutorials, we encourage you to sit with them and help them sign up for a tutorial online.
I hope that you will join San Ramon Valley’s PTA and SRVUSD joint presentation on CyberSafety from 7-8pm on Thursday 1/26. I highly recommend that parents/caregivers attend this event along with consistently checking your child’s devices (phones, tablets, chromebooks). You can join in person or watch on YouTube -visit the San Ramon Valley PTSA Council home page for more information.

| Parents and Guardians:
Happy new year! I hope you and your family had a wonderful and relaxing break. Our device policy is in full swing. I appreciate all the parents who have emailed me their support. During the first week of advisory and tutorial, students were reminded about the device policy and some important rules that we would like them to focus on during the second semester. If you are interested in viewing these lessons, you can find the slide deck about our device policy at bit.ly/WRMSdevice. You can find the video about important school rules at bit.ly/WRMSrules.
One thing we really want students to focus on this semester is their choice of words when talking to other students. The use of any offensive words and actions that target others and their backgrounds will never be tolerated at our site. In addition to a student receiving consequences for the use of this derogatory language and/or harmful actions, they will also receive support through our equity liaison, Mr. Vespi, to learn the history and meaning of this type of language/action and its impact on others and our community. I encourage you to have a conversation with your child about this. If you are unsure of how to begin the conversation, there are many resources available on the SRVUSD website (bit.ly/SRVUSDequity). As always, do not hesitate to reach out to the admin team for support.
Thank you! Christine Helmer |

WRMS Parents & Students,
Happy New Year! It’s hard to believe we are in the second half of our school year already. 6th-8th grade students will be taking the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP), which is a state mandated, standardized, computer adapted exam. CAASPP this year at Windemere will be administered on May 1-3. Please be sure not to schedule appointments or trips during this time. In preparation for the CAASPP, all students will be taking practice test segments called “Interim Assessment Blocks” in ELA and in Math, once a month from now until May. A letter with more information will be sent out to parents/guardians as we get closer to May.

If a student is to be dismissed before the end of the day, a note must be presented to the office before school begins. The parent/guardian is then required to to sign-out at the attendance office at the time of departure. Read the entire policy on p. 11 of the WRMS Student Handbook. |

Advisory / Tutorials
Students are responsible for signing up in advance for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Tutorials. They should check their schedule in the Student Portal everyday to ensure they are attending the correct Tutorial. If the student does not attend their assigned tutorial they will be marked absent. If they have gone to a class other than their assigned tutorial, it is the student's responsibility to have that teacher email school attendance. Parents are not able to clear these absences.
Tardies: Students who arrive to class after the bell rings for any of their class periods will be considered and marked tardy for that class. Accumulated tardies within the quarter will receive the following consequences: The 5th tardy will result in a lunch detention The 8th tardy will result in an after school detention 10 tardies or more may result in a Saturday School Please see the WRMS Student Handbook/Planner (p. 10-11) for more information regarding our tardy policy. Please remember that the only absences that are excused are illnesses and medical/dental appointments.
