Welcome Back and Happy New Year! 2023 will see a lot of changes for Auburn Union School District. I want to acknowledge that NO ONE wants to consolidate/close any school, not your Trustees, FRIP Committee members, myself or my staff. Unfortunately, these issues have plagued our district for well over a decade. It is even more unfortunate that many of our staff and families were not even here in AUSD when the issues of declining enrollment and deficit spending started. Yet, we are the ones to right-size our budget and our district to leave it better and fiscally solvent for our current and future students.
The Auburn Elementary PTC members reminded me that our #1 job is to put 100% effort into making school now until June the most positive, productive, and safe place for our students and staff to grow, learn and flourish. Please check out the two links below; one is an article from Psychology Today and the other is from the Great Kindness Challenge website. Let’s spread kindness to our AUSD family of students, staff, and families and help all of us get through these changing times.

The Great Kindness Challenge is January 23 - 27. The Great Kindness Challenge is a proactive and positive Social Emotional Learning (SEL) focused bullying prevention program that improves school climate and increases student engagement. One week is devoted to performing as many acts of kindness as possible. Using the provided kindness checklist, students and families accept the challenge and show the world that KINDNESS MATTERS! Simply click the link below to sign up and access the Great Kindness Challenge tools.
